Recently while attending a cluster, i happened to hear the plight of english teachers when they opened their hearts to pour out their woes....it was an eye opener to me...as i said earlier, being a new entrant to this world i always used to wonder..why english teachers arent so vibrant as other subject teachers in public arena??i got my answer in one of this discussions...first and foremost is the insecure position of english teacher posts in the govt sector. Its said that unlike other subjects,in order to maintain an english post, a school needs atleast 5 divisions!!!!How pathetic is that a situation???so crushingly depressive!!!!!! why is it so??what can we do about this??All readers please contribute your thoughts about this....

Dear mam,

I also heard of such things. But I could not find any document stating the above thing in the form of a GO or Circular from the department. If you have or if you know somebodyhas it, please forward it.

Hi Zain,

Yeah true...documental proof is surely unavailable...but wat about the teachers who were literally thrown out of their  post and transferred to far off places just cos of division fall???however thanks to our present govt decision of not "counting" the no: of heads...lol:D...ok let me slip away from the PLIGHT NO:1 and move on to other issues...well the other points that came up was the "justice" that we do to our subject as a teacher.....how far we are able to do that???despite learning to avoid the typical translation method in english language learning theories,we are at times compelled to do so...right??how to go about that....especially 10th std.

Dear Haridasan Sir,

Please provide me the above said documental proof. I heard about an association formed to face the issue. But they also didnot provide any clear idea about it, except a news report - the one which Shibu sir mentioned in one of his posts.

And, if there is such a condition, is it exclusively for English HSA? Please make iot clear sir.

ANY WAY, I would like to begin another discussion:

THE NEED FOR A SPECIALIST ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHER FOR PRIMARY CLASSES.

There are special language teachers in primary section to teach Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Arabic..........

But no teacher for English Language. Isn't the base strongly built?

Another funny thing about primary classes is this : even those teachers who haven't learned science in higher secondary level are teaching science and maths! There is no subject base option for TTC and most of the primary teachers are TTC holders. They teach English also.

The stanadard of English can be improved only if teachers in the lower classes, especially the primary classes are handled by teachers proficient and  trained In English. The language of the students should be corrected in the earlier stage and not at the later stage. Once a habit is formed it becomes a part the children and difficult to correct it.  Spoken form of any language is nothing but an unconscious habit that seldom need an effort. Thoughts and ideas flow out into words. So the teachers  well versed in spoken form of English must handle the  calases in IV, V,VI,VII and VIII.
